Devon GCN Consultation Zones
Great Crested Newt populations in Devon are isolated to certain areas, with no records ever being submitted in large parts of the county. The GCN consultation zones were created in order to help Local Planning Authorities, developers, and consultants identify where planning applications may need to consider the potential impacts of a development on Great Crested Newt populations. GCN zones are formed from 5km buffers around Great Crested Newt records to create a larger consultation zone that marks potential GCN meta-populations. The maps will be updated if any changes are made to the zones.
